Your wildest dreams
New Moon in Capricorn
Happy 2016! How's the new year treating you so far?
Personally, the past few weeks have been very difficult, so I'm really looking forward to this New Moon to 'reset' myself emotionally and mentally. This is why I track the lunar cycles—the next New Moon is never too far away, so I know I have a chance to start over. Of course, you can start or reset things any time you like, but each New Moon is a cosmically aligned opportunity, so why not?
The next New Moon is in Saturn-ruled Capricorn. Saturn is all about structure and time (as in taking the long-term view).
For this particular New Moon, focus on doing this one thing:
- Articulate your vision. What do you envision for the mid-to-long term (for whichever life area)? Less the intellectual concept, but the concrete details of that vision. Spell it out—the people, the actions, the things that are part of that vision. Even if 'how' is not obvious at the moment. You just need to figure out the one next step.
Saturn has a reputation for being a tough taskmaster, but I always think: 'do Saturn, or it will do you in'. (Does that sound awful? lol)
Doing Saturn is much like drinking bitter medicine now so that you can reap the rewards of being healthy later. It doesn't mean that you can't dream big or get what you want. It means that after you create your everything-I-can-dream-of vision, you have to see your current reality with hyper-clarity, and then get down to laying a solid foundation, creating your dreams brick by brick.
Other Points of Note
Mercury Retrograde (Jan 5-25)
Any interesting blast-from-the-past encounters or unusual dreams lately? As usual, your Mercury Retrograde motto is: stay zen. I'll mention it when they come round, but in case you want to take note, the other two Merc Retro periods for this year are April 28 - May 22 and August 30 - September 22.
Explore your personal depths (now till February 2-ish)
This is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it's a great time to do deep, reflective dives to unravel the knots that tie you up, to make conscious your most secret desires and dreams, to mine the depths of your psyche for gold. On the other hand, it's also an easy time to get pulled into the undertow of paranoia, delusions and overthinking. Be self-aware and practice self-management.
Habits, Routines, Systems Revamp (now till mid-April)
Perfect timing for the new year! If you're looking to do over any habits, routines or systems in your life, whether personally or work-wise, now is the time to do it. Be willing to try new ways of thinking and doing. If the new version doesn't quite work, tweak it or totally change it up, and then try again.
Getting to Know You
I've been a fan of Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies Quiz for a while even though I've not read the book—her quiz is designed to discover your typical response to your own and others' expectations, and people are either Obligers, Questioners, Upholders or Rebels. [she explains it here]
It's not perfect of course, but it's a really useful tool and concept that really changed my perspective on what I need to do or how I need to think in order to stop being a procrastination queen ;) (Can you guess which one I am?)
Although it was designed to help with habit formation, I think it can improve relationships too. I got a couple of friends to do it, and it helped us to understand each other better by giving us a context talk about things we want to do (alone or together), so I'm planning to ask my other friends to try it too.
So, go find out if you're an Obliger, Questioner, Upholder or Rebel and then reply this email and let me know!
Till the next new moon~
Blessings,
Julia
